Conan Stark is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and Head of the Visual Arts Department at Cameron Heights in downtown Kitchener, Ontario.
Based on the Haldimand Tract - land promised to the Six Nations and traditionally stewarded by the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Chonnonton peoples - Stark’s work explores the intersection of traditional and contemporary art practices. Through photography, mixed media, and digital illustration, he examines the tension between past and present, using vibrant digital techniques to reimagine traditional materials and spaces. His work is characterized by dynamic contrasts in light, colour, and line, evoking a strong sense of atmosphere and storytelling.
Born in Northern Ontario, Stark grew up in a low-tech environment before moving to the Waterloo Region in the mid-1980s. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (2002) from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Education (2003) from the University of Western Ontario.
